What was done
Researchers conducted two experiments comparing younger and older adults on value-directed remembering and directed-forgetting tasks. In Experiment 1, participants studied words paired with a directed-forgetting cue (remember vs. forget) and a point value for subsequent recognition, tested after either an 8-minute or 24-hour retention interval. In Experiment 2, words were displayed in two colors, and the recognition test evaluated memory for words as well as incidental retrieval of the associated point value and font color.
What was found
