A meta-analysis of emotional P3 event-related potential (ERP) amplitudes evaluated how emotional bias (negativity bias vs. positivity offset) is modulated by stimulus arousal (high vs. low), stimulus type (scenic vs. verbal), cultural background (Eastern vs. Western), and task setting (explicit vs. implicit). Forty-nine effect sizes were calculated using Hedges' g across 38 studies comprising 1,263 subjects.

What was found

Stimulus arousal, stimulus type, and task setting significantly moderated emotional P3 responses (numeric effect sizes and confidence intervals were not reported in the abstract).
